/ COLLABORATE. PARTICIPATE. CELEBRATE Top
Imagine an organization that is solely dedicated to creating lasting legacies in BC communities—bolstering the arts, literacy, sport and recreation, healthy living, accessibility and volunteerism leading up to, and beyond, the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Coastlines was engaged to develop an annual review and subsequent newspaper advertisements that profiled stories from six unique BC citizens who, with a little help, are making a difference in their communities and in the lives of others. Our theme: Collaborate, Participate, Celebrate, ultimately points to the power of partnerships and how that has inspired grassroots learning, involvement and legacies for everyone, forever.
We traveled around the province to places like Fernie, Nanaimo, Abbotsford, Burnaby and Vancouver to interview and photograph the selected subjects. For the annual review, we applied a golden hue to the images to create the feeling of a vintage family album. Combined with clean typography and plenty of colour, the overall effect is a salient account of each person’s legacy.
As a group, we were inspired by the diversity of each story and we felt honored to share in their experiences for the brief time we were there. Special thanks to Jordan Junck Photography, Graham Winterbottom Photography (Great work guys!), Rhino Print Solutions and an awesome client for their trust and insight during all aspects of design and production. Endeavour Financial is a leading merchant banking company with a ‘distinctly different’ platform for advising and creating capital opportunities in the global natural resource sector.
What if you could get a sailing ship to navigate through the streets of the London financial district—or for that matter, any city in the world? We thought it would be a dynamic way to put Endeavour’s brand front and center and truly communicate their unique approach to advisory services including debt, equity and merchant banking expertise.
With the experienced eye of Photographer Scott Morgan, we captured the London Exchange in the soft light of the afternoon, and then merged the ‘good ship Endeavour’ into the London Street. “I got the idea from an old Citigroup ad where this red umbrella is standing out in a monochromatic crowd of people, ... first the subway, then a busy street and so on. The Citigroup brand promise was ‘You’re Always Covered’‚” says Byron Dowler, Creative Director.
“Navigating the complex waters of the natural resource sector requires the specialized expertise of seasoned professionals. Hence, my theme for Endeavour was ‘We’ll Take You There’.” As part of a larger branding assignment, Coastlines applied the new brand and campaign images from London and Vancouver to Endeavour’s key marketing brochure. New and cool pieces to come!

As our Clients grow and their projects become more comprehensive, we’re often asked to help with marketing strategy and campaign planning. To give us a hand, we’ve engaged our friend and colleague Chris Neary of Frank Communications to come on board and provide his ‘off-the-grid’ approach. Formerly the Director of Marketing Communications at Telus (Chris loves to work with small, cute animals), Chris was responsible for managing a multimillion dollar budget to lead TELUS’ consumer marketing strategy, branding, and guide Ad Agency performance to reach sales targets in excess of $2bn.
Chris began his career in London at AGENCY.COM where he became a Creative Director servicing brands like Intel, FoxTV, Endemol, Colgate and Compaq focusing on early adopters of Internet and Mobile based advertising and commerce. It was here that Chris won the award for ‘Best use of Mobile Digital Channels 2000’ from Marketing Magazine for his work on Big Brother 2.
In concert with our team, Chris would be delighted to help in planning, research and overall strategy for your marketing objectives. Feel free to contact him at chris@coastlinescreative.com or 604 738 6378.

So what did you do this weekend? Karen Evans, our illustrious Project Manager was seen moonlighting as a cranberry quality checker. A seemingly thankless job to some, but Karen enjoys the challenge. One by one she carefully checks each cranberry for optimum ripeness, skin quality and redness. Uh, oh, I think she lost count.
