One of the smallest neighborhoods in Vancouver, both in terms of population and area, South Cambie is wedged between Shaughnessy Heights and Queen Elizabeth Park. This area is known for its many medical facilities, including the BC Children’s Hospital, GF Strong Rehabilitation Center, BC Women’s Hospital and Health Care Center, and Canadian Blood Services.
Although a smaller community, there’s no dearth of activities or amenities in South Cambie. Situated just south of Oakridge this quaint neighborhood features an abundance of great schools, shopping, and transportation. South Cambie is a family-oriented neighborhood renowned for its excellent educational institutes like Langara College, top-notch hospitals, great ethnic eateries, distinctive boutique shops, funky watering holes, and the posh Oakridge Mall.
The beautiful Langara Golf Course, with its pristine greens and prime location, is a golfer's paradise. In addition to enjoying 18 holes of golf, residents can also enjoy walking or jogging on the trails. Plus, the Langara public tennis courts on the southeast corner of the golf course are open the whole year round.
Cambie Park is a beautiful large green space that boasts a baseball diamond, football field, playground, soccer fields, and trails for biking, jogging, and walking. Residents of this neighborhood can also enjoy excellent shopping options in Marpole Village, which is quite close by. Whether you want to grab a bite to eat or shop for some groceries, the Marpole Village is the place to hit.
Another local gem that is worth a visit is Vancouver’s Punjabi Market also known as Little India. Located between W48th Avenue and W51st Ave on Main Street, this amazing shopping district is a focal point for the South Asian community in Vancouver. Other big box names found in this neighborhood include Best Buy, Sportchek, and Canadian Tire.
